# extragmail — Frequently Asked Questions

## Is extragmail really free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no trial, and no account. The full product is free.

## How do Gmail aliases work?
Gmail ignores dots in the local part of an address and ignores everything after a `+` sign. So `john.doe@gmail.com`, `johndoe@gmail.com`, and `johndoe+shop@gmail.com` all deliver to the same inbox.

## Do I need an account?
No. extragmail runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to sign up for.

## Do you store my Gmail address?
No. The app is fully client-side. Your email never leaves your browser. Saved batches are stored only in your browser's localStorage.

## Will websites accept these aliases?
Dot-variants are accepted everywhere. Plus-tag aliases (`name+tag@gmail.com`) are accepted by most sites, but a small minority reject the `+` character — use a dot-variant in those cases.

## How many aliases can I generate?
Up to 10,000+ in a single batch. There is no daily or lifetime limit.

## What export formats are supported?
TXT, CSV, and XLSX. You can also copy all aliases to your clipboard with one click.

## Does this work with Google Workspace?
Yes. Google Workspace follows the same dot and plus-tag rules as personal Gmail.

## Where do I get the Chrome extension?
Download it from the `/extension` page on extragmail.lovable.app. Unzip the file, open `chrome://extensions`, enable Developer mode, and click **Load unpacked**. It is not currently on the Chrome Web Store. Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera.

## Can I import aliases I already have?
Yes. The `/import` page accepts TXT or CSV files (or pasted text), validates them, and saves them into your local library for re-export.

## How is this different from temp-mail services?
Temp-mail inboxes expire and can't be used for password resets or account recovery. extragmail aliases forward to your real Gmail inbox, so accounts you create with them remain yours.

## Is extragmail affiliated with Google?
No. extragmail is an independent tool that uses Gmail's documented alias rules. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google.
